Innoviz Technologies has launched the InnovizTwo Ultra Long-Range LiDAR, with detection range of up to 1 km for automotive use cases
LiDAR supplier Innoviz Technologies (Nasdaq: INVZ) has launched the InnovizTwo Ultra Long-Range (ULR), an automotive-grade LiDAR sensor with detection range of up to 1 km. First samples have been delivered to selected customers, with the Israeli company targeting robotaxi, heavy truck and infrastructure-scale sensing applications.
The ULR uses the same production tools and processes as the existing InnovizTwo sensor, which Innoviz said enables a faster ramp. Specs include 3D point-cloud resolution of up to 667 points per square degree, a 120° by 24° field of view, and Class 1 eye safety.
For commercial vehicles, Innoviz pitched heavy trucks’ long stopping distances and high inertia as a use case, with kilometre-scale perception aimed at obstacle identification for safe braking and lane planning at highway speeds. The supplier is also targeting digital twin, traffic prediction and airport runway debris detection.
The ULR adds Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) connectivity for non-automotive deployments, allowing single-cable installation on existing infrastructure. Innoviz said the sensor captures spatial data without identifying personal characteristics.
In a statement, Omer Keilaf, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Innoviz, said: “The combination of kilometer-scale range, extremely high-resolution 3D sensing, and the durability of an automotive-grade LiDAR gives operators across a wide range of industries a tool that performs reliably in harsh conditions, day or night.”
