MAN’s Querétaro office supports its Lion’s Chassis CO bus platforms and TGX tractor units across the Mexican market
MAN Truck & Bus has opened a new sales office in Querétaro as part of an expanded push into Mexico, targeting the country’s shift toward cab-over tractor units and rising demand for modern long-distance coaches. The German truckmaker has named Pedro Teixeira as MAN Brand Manager to lead the local team, with operations running alongside distribution partner Volkswagen Truck & Bus Mexico.
Demand in the Mexican tractor unit market is moving from traditional long-nose vehicles toward European-style cab-over designs with more advanced technology. MAN is positioning its TGX model, rated up to 40 tonnes gross vehicle weight with 440 to 640 hp Euro 6 engines, against that trend shift, alongside driver assistance features including its EfficientCruise adaptive cruise control and emergency braking assist.

In buses, MAN supplies chassis to local bodybuilders rather than complete vehicles. The company works with Irizar and Marcopolo on the two-axle Lion’s Chassis CO (RR2) and three-axle RR4 platforms, both running diesel powertrains. The bus segment in Mexico is served entirely by European manufacturers, with coaches playing a central role given limited domestic rail infrastructure.
Friedrich Baumann, Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions, MAN Truck & Bus, said: “Our goal is to provide the best possible support to our customers in the transport and logistics industry by building a local team. We are strengthening our market presence and look forward to further advancing mobility in Mexico with innovative vehicles and well-thought-out solutions.”
At the recent Expo Foro Movilidad 2026 in Mexico City, VW Truck & Bus Mexico displayed two coaches built on the Lion’s Chassis CO (RR2) with Euro 6e engines, bodied by Irizar and Marcopolo. MAN FinancialServices has offered financing, leasing and insurance products in Mexico since April 2025.
