Chinese EVs in Canada and Mexico—a backdoor into the US? | Automotive World

Donald Trump has threatened both Mexico and Canada with sanctions (tariffs) if either brings Chinese production to their countries. By Ian Henry
In response to pressure from the US government, Mexico has imposed a 50% tariff on Chinese electric vehicle (EV) imports. Meanwhile to the north, Canada has agreed to import up to 49,000 Chinese-made EVs a year at the most favoured nation tariff rate of 6.1%.
