Gridserve opens Electric Super Hub at Folkestone M20

Gridserve’s latest Electric Super Hub at Folkestone M20 operates 24/7 with contactless payment and net zero energy supply

Gridserve and Roadchef have opened a new Electric Super Hub at Folkestone M20 Services, adding 12 ultra-rapid charging bays at one of the UK’s busiest motorway service locations. Situated close to the M20 and key routes to the Channel Tunnel, the site is designed to serve both domestic motorists and drivers travelling to and from mainland Europe.

Each bay is capable of delivering up to 360 kW, enabling compatible electric vehicles to recover 100 miles of range in under 10 minutes. The new hub complements existing medium-power chargers at the site, which support CCS and CHAdeMO-equipped vehicles.

The facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with contactless payment and a two-step plug-in-and-pay process. In line with other Gridserve Electric Super Hubs, the site is supplied with net zero energy.

“The opening of our new Electric Super Hub at Roadchef Folkestone M20 marks another important step in building a truly national charging network that drivers can depend on,” Daniel Kunkel, Chief Executive of Gridserve, said. “Perfectly positioned near the Channel Tunnel, this hub serves as both a final stop for UK motorists heading into Europe and a welcoming first charge for drivers arriving from France.”

Walt Antrim, Head of EV Implementation at Roadchef, added: “Folkestone is a critical location for EV drivers travelling both domestically and internationally, sitting at one of the UK’s busiest gateways to Europe.”
