Genesis has unveiled the X Skorpio Concept, its first extreme off-road vehicle, at a world premiere event in the Rub’ al Khali desert in the United Arab Emirates. The concept is powered by a V8 engine producing 1,100 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque, and features a tubular frame, full roll cage, and construction using fiberglass, carbon fibre, and Kevlar.

The vehicle rides on 18-inch beadlock wheels with 40-inch off-road tyres and is equipped with Brembo motorsport brakes. Genesis said the concept was developed with components sourced from off-road endurance racing specialists.

In a statement, Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer at Genesis, said: “The X Skorpio concept is an extreme off-road vehicle designed to be driven across the toughest and harshest terrain. With a tubular frame, a full roll cage and many components sourced directly from off-road endurance racing specialists, the X Skorpio Concept explores yet another facet of the Genesis brand.”
Genesis also displayed the GV60 Outdoors Concept, GV70 Outdoors Concept, and GV80 Desert Edition at the event, and announced a broader concept car strategy.
