WeRide is bringing its Robotaxi GXR to Southeast Asia, with Grab trial operations already under way in Singapore’s Punggol district
WeRide has showcased its Robotaxi GXR at Nvidia GTC 2026, announcing plans to introduce the vehicle across Southeast Asian markets in partnership with Grab, the regional superapp and WeRide shareholder. The two companies have already launched autonomous vehicle trial operations in Singapore’s Punggol district, with public service set to begin on 1 April 2026.
The GXR is built on the Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion platform, powered by the DRIVE AGX Thor system-on-chip, integrated into WeRide’s HPC 3.0 high-performance computing unit. WeRide says HPC 3.0 reduces autonomous driving suite cost by 50% and total cost of ownership by 84% compared with previous generations. The vehicle is manufactured by Geely’s Zhejiang Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, with an agreement signed earlier this month for 2,000 upgraded, mass-produced GXRs to be delivered by 2026 at approximately US$40,000 per vehicle, with further cost reductions expected as fleet scale increases.

WeRide currently operates across more than 40 cities in 11 countries and targets an active fleet of more than 2,600 robotaxis by the end of 2026, rising to tens of thousands by 2030.
In a statement, Tony Han, Founder and Chief Executive of WeRide, said: “Southeast Asia is a core growth market for WeRide’s Robotaxi business, where dense cities, progressive regulators, and strong partners like Grab enable scaled commercial operations. By utilising the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform, we can significantly reduce system costs while accelerating safe, reliable Level 4 Robotaxi operations across global markets.”
