Traton’s Brazilian division Volkswagen Truck & Bus (VWTB) has led the local market for more than two decades, serving not only as a pivotal arm of the wider Volkswagen Group but also a regional pioneer for decarbonisation. Brazil, as with Latin America as a whole, is a relative laggard on electric heavy vehicles, particularly compared to China and Europe. But recent developments from VWTB and various partners suggest the long-term hope for low-carbon transport is very much alive.
