U Power has completed its first Thailand truck battery-swapping order and is targeting a Hong Kong taxi battery-swapping launch in the second quarter of 2026
U Power has completed production of the first batch of heavy-duty battery-swapping trucks from a 1,000-unit order in Thailand, while its Hong Kong taxi battery-swapping project is expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2026. The company said the developments mark the start of full commercial rollout of its battery-swapping business for commercial vehicles across the Asian market.
U Power’s Thailand operations include a taxi battery-swapping service launched in Phuket in 2025 and the UNEX heavy-duty truck battery-swapping project, developed in partnership with SUSCO (Susco Public Company Limited) and Whale Logistics Group. The company said it was the first to achieve scaled commercial battery-swapping operations for commercial transport vehicles in overseas markets.

For the Hong Kong project, U Power completed the city’s first demonstration battery-swapping station capable of commercial operation in June 2025. Following road testing, compatibility validation and certification by the Transport Department, the company said the taxi vehicles are now cleared for on-road operation, with station construction ongoing ahead of the second-quarter launch target.
In a statement, Li Jia, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of U Power, said: “Leveraging our AI-driven energy management system and standardised battery-swapping infrastructure, we are building an ecosystem for a wide range of commercial battery-swapping vehicles and advancing the electrification of commercial transportation.”
