Tenneco’s Monroe MCx valve to debut on US-made SUVs

Monroe Ride Solutions will introduce its MCx passive damping valve technology to North America on two upcoming US-made SUVs

Monroe Ride Solutions will introduce its MCx passive damping valve technology to the North American market on two upcoming SUV models from an unidentified US-based manufacturer. The MCx valve is already in use with European automakers and is available exclusively in Monroe OE Solutions dampers.

Monroe Ride Solutions is a unit of Tenneco. The company says the MCx valve expands the range of tuning parameters available through passive dampers, enabling levels of steering and handling control, ride comfort and consistency that were previously considered unobtainable without electronic suspension systems.

The valve features independent, parallel fluid flow paths that allow for precise tuning of low, medium and high fluid velocities. Its open-bleed tuning capability provides two additional tuning parameters in rebound and compression, which the company says helps eliminate ultra-low-velocity vibrations before they reach the passenger compartment.

“The MCx valve expands the range of tuning parameters and resulting ride benefits available through passive dampers,” said Scott Jones, Vice President and General Manager, Americas, for Monroe Ride Solutions. “This innovative design enables vehicle manufacturers to dial-in the ideal ride and handling profile for each new model, resulting in a more satisfying driving experience.”

The MCx valve sits alongside Monroe Ride Solutions’ portfolio of Monroe Intelligent Suspension electronic suspension systems.
