PlusAI launches SuperDrive 6.0 for driverless trucking

PlusAI has released SuperDrive 6.0, the latest version of its autonomous driving software for commercial trucking, introducing night driving and construction zone handling capabilities designed to enable round-the-clock freight operations. The company said the update, built on more than seven million miles of real-world driving data across the United States, Europe, and Asia, moves it closer to a targeted 2027 launch of scalable driverless commercial operations using factory-built trucks.

Autonomous trucks equipped with SuperDrive 6.0 are already transporting commercial freight in Texas, with construction zone handling active and night driving expected to be released in the coming weeks. PlusAI said it has achieved a 10X improvement in artificial intelligence (AI) training speed and a 3X reduction in data labelling costs through a combination of autolabelling, imitation learning, and reinforcement learning.

In a statement, David Liu, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of PlusAI, said: “By adding night driving and construction zone handling, autonomous trucks with SuperDrive could achieve 24/7 commercial operations. By doubling our predictive accuracy and supercharging our AI development pipeline, we have the potential to accelerate our development and expand our operating environment faster.”

SuperDrive 6.0 features a distributed compute architecture across multi-node system-on-chips including Nvidia Drive Orin and Thor, along with a new Transformer-based “Reflex” layer that delivers a 2X improvement in predicting trajectories of dynamic actors. The announcement comes as PlusAI plans to go public via a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp IX.
