The Tesla Model Y, Mercedes EQB, Cupra Born, and MG4 completed Octopus EV’s top five for full-year 2025
The Omoda E5 was the most popular electric vehicle among customers of Octopus Electric Vehicles in 2025, according to the UK leasing specialist, with the Tesla Model Y, Mercedes EQB, Cupra Born, and MG4 completing the top five. However, the final quarter saw the Jaecoo E5 climb to first place just months after its UK launch, ahead of the Omoda E5 and Tesla Model Y.
Octopus said the Q4 results highlight growing confidence among drivers in challenger brands that combine design, space, and technology at more accessible prices.
In a statement, Alvin Castillo, Procurement Director at Octopus Electric Vehicles, said: “We were the first to start selling it in September, and within just three months it had become one of our top-performing cars of the year. When great design and great value line up, drivers move fast.”
Chris Clayton, Head of Fleet at Omoda & Jaecoo UK, added: “It underlines the demand we’re seeing for EVs that combine distinctive design, strong real-world range and a competitive total cost of ownership.”
Looking ahead, Castillo said 2026 will be defined by growth in the hatchback segment, with models including the Volkswagen ID Polo, Cupra Raval, and Geely EX2. He also noted the arrival of vehicle-to-grid-ready models from BMW, Kia, and Renault.
