Novelis has won the MMK Award of Excellence 2026 for an aluminium sheet made entirely from end-of-life vehicle scrap for exterior body use
Novelis has received the Münchner Management Kolloquium (MMK) Award of Excellence 2026 for an aluminium sheet product made from 100% end-of-life vehicle scrap, developed for use in exterior car body applications. The award, presented at one of the leading management conferences in the German-speaking region, recognises companies driving sustainable progress through innovation and responsibility.
The product demonstrates that car-to-car recycling for high-quality outer-body aluminium is technically feasible, advancing the case for closed-loop material use in vehicle manufacturing. Aluminium recycling requires approximately 95% less energy than producing primary aluminium, and Novelis reported an average global recycled content of 63% across all its products in its 2025 fiscal year, with select automotive alloys reaching up to 85%.

The award-winning sheet is part of the company’s broader Novelis 3×30 programme, which targets a fully circular aluminium economy through expanded access to end-of-life scrap, investment in recycling processes and collaboration across the automotive supply chain.
In a statement, Michael Hahne, Vice President of Commercial for Novelis in Europe, said: “This award affirms our commitment to shaping the future of the aluminum and automotive industries. The MMK Award of Excellence highlights the importance of innovation, responsibility and collaboration — values that guide our daily work.”
