New Twingo E-Tech electric targets affordable EV segment

enault has launched the Twingo E-Tech electric at under €20,000, with a 263 km WLTP range and LFP battery technology new to the Renault range

Renault has launched the Twingo E-Tech electric, an all-electric A-segment city car priced from under €20,000 for the entry-level Evolution version, targeting a segment largely vacated by mainstream manufacturers. The vehicle is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 263 km and consumption of 12.2 kWh/100 km, pending homologation.

The Twingo E-Tech electric is the first Renault Group model to use LFP cell-to-pack technology, which the automaker says reduces battery costs by 20% compared with conventional production. The vehicle is built on the RGEV small platform, shared with the Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech electric, and assembled at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. Development was completed in 100 weeks, which Renault describes as twice as fast as previous electric models, using a process combining French platform engineering with Chinese systems integration through its ACDC centre in Shanghai.

The car is offered in two trim levels, Evolution and Techno. The Techno grade introduces the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in, marking its debut in the A-segment, along with One Pedal driving and 24 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). An optional Advanced Charge pack adds an 11 kW bidirectional AC charger and a 50 kW DC charger, enabling vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality. Standard charging uses a 6.6 kW AC onboard charger.

Renault states the vehicle’s lifecycle carbon footprint is 60% smaller than an equivalent internal combustion engine city car.
