While Japan’s passenger car segment saw sales decline in the final quarter of the fiscal year, Mitsubishi and Daihatsu bucked the trend. By Will Girling
The Japanese market saw new passenger car sales of 1.04 million units in Q4 2025/26, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). This was down 5.4% year-on-year, reflecting almost 60,000 fewer registrations than the same quarter in fiscal year 2025.
