Mazda has developed Navy Blue Mica, a new body colour debuting on the all-new CX-5 at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026
Mazda has developed a new body colour called Navy Blue Mica, which will debut on the all-new CX-5 at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 as the automaker seeks to establish a standard shade of navy for its vehicle lineup. The colour evolved from Deep Crystal Blue Mica and is designed to deliver vivid saturation in highlights and deep elegance in shadows through a blend of horizontally arranged mica particles.

The CX-5 has been Mazda’s best-selling model since 2018 and will be the first vehicle to offer the new colour option. The development team adopted “high resolution” as the guiding concept, aiming to achieve colour precision and high contrast that accentuates design details in varying weather conditions.

Mazda has a history with blue colours dating to the 1970s, when Mazda Blue was adopted as its corporate symbol colour. A blue shade was also used to launch the first-generation CX-5. The automaker said it has offered more than 150 colours featuring “blue” in the name across its vehicle range.
The company said it considers colour a crucial element in vehicle design and will continue pursuing colours that represent “lively energy” to enhance the driving experience.
