Marelli pushes vehicle dynamics tech at Auto China 2026

Supplier Marelli will showcase a range of new active suspension and chassis technologies at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, including its Active Camber, Electromechanical Lifter and Hybrid Electromechanical Suspension systems. The new systems target vehicle dynamics, which Marelli says is a growing differentiator for automakers, particularly in China.

The Active Camber system uses an electronically controlled actuator with integrated sensors that process data each millisecond and adjust wheel angles in real time. Marelli said this cuts body movement and improves grip and tyre wear.

The Electromechanical Lifter is built into the shock absorber to adjust ride height. It targets sport cars, where it can raise the vehicle for ramps or speed bumps, and SUVs, where it can lower ride height at speed to cut drag.

The Hybrid Electromechanical Suspension pairs active front actuators with semi-active rear dampers via an Electronic Control Unit. Marelli said it targets active-suspension performance at lower system cost than fully active set-ups.

In a statement, Piero Monchiero, Vice President of Advanced Innovation at Marelli’s Ride Dynamics business, said: “The importance of vehicle dynamics technology spans all propulsion systems, giving automakers a decisive tool to drive vehicle distinctiveness while offering end users a wide range of personalisation options. This is particularly evident in China, where customer expectations for vehicle dynamics and ride comfort continue to rise.”
