Leapmotor debuts B10 range extender at Brussels

Leapmotor has launched the B10 hybrid electric vehicle with range extender technology at the Brussels Motor Show

Leapmotor used the Brussels Motor Show to launch the B10 hybrid electric vehicle (EV) featuring range extender technology, alongside the European premiere of the B03X and the first official reveal of the B05 interior. The Chinese automaker said its range extender system differs from conventional hybrids by using the electric motor as the sole source of propulsion, with the petrol engine generating electricity to recharge the battery rather than driving the wheels directly.

The B10 hybrid EV is designed to offer the driving characteristics of a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) while providing extended range for markets with limited charging infrastructure. Leapmotor said the system delivers smooth, silent operation with instant torque and automatic energy management requiring no driver intervention.

The B03X European debut and B05 interior reveal mark further steps in Leapmotor’s expansion strategy for the region. The automaker sells vehicles in Europe through its Leapmotor International joint venture with Stellantis.

Leapmotor said it continues to invest in pure EVs while recognising that customer needs and infrastructure readiness vary across regions. The company described its hybrid EV solution as offering electric driving for everyday journeys with extended range capability for longer trips.

The Brussels Motor Show attracted 349,775 visitors, a 13.8% increase on the previous year.
