Iveco Bus has delivered 29 E-WAY electric buses to ATM S.p.A. in Messina, Italy, as part of a 54-vehicle procurement programme under the Consip framework agreement. The delivery includes 9.5-metre and 12-metre models designed for depot charging, with the standard version also equipped for pantograph charging.
The remaining vehicles in the order, currently in production, will comprise twelve 18-metre articulated E-WAY buses with pantograph charging systems. ATM Messina expects to receive a further 18 electric buses by June 2026, including 12 articulated vehicles for the city’s Shuttle line and six eight-metre buses.
The E-WAY buses are equipped with intelligent transport systems for real-time fleet monitoring, as well as advanced driver assistance systems and passenger information displays. The vehicles include a dedicated wheelchair area and boarding ramp.

Giorgio Zino, Head of Iveco Bus Commercial Operations in Europe, said: “Designed to meet the highest standards of performance, safety and comfort, these vehicles integrate advanced technologies that enable optimised fleet management while delivering a high-quality travel experience for passengers.”
Carla Grillo, President of ATM, added: “ATM’s green fleet is continuously expanding, thanks to well-considered choices made as early as 2020 in close synergy with the City of Messina. The company is progressing along the path of ecological transition at a pace faster than the national average.”
