Honda has ranked as the most fuel-efficient full-line automaker in the United States for model year 2024, according to the latest Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Automotive Trends Report. The automaker’s fleet average fuel economy increased to 31.0 mpg, some 3.8 mpg higher than the industry average for manufacturers offering both electrified and petrol vehicles.
Honda said it has maintained a nearly 50-year history of fuel efficiency leadership, with the first EPA ranking of America’s most fuel-efficient vehicles in 1976 placing the Honda Civic in the top position. Subsequent reports have consistently shown Honda among the leaders in annual fuel efficiency measurements.

The automaker added that it has maintained affordability alongside fuel efficiency gains, with an average transaction price for a new Honda vehicle of US$35,060 in 2025, approximately US$10,000 below the industry average.
Honda also set a third consecutive annual sales record for electrified vehicles in the US in 2025, topping 400,000 units for the first time. The record was led by hybrid-electric models including the CR-V, Accord and Civic hybrids.
