GM expands public charging access with Electrify America integration

The update allows GM EV drivers to find, activate and pay for charging sessions at thousands of fast chargers nationwide.

On the Dash:

  • GM now allows EV drivers to locate, activate and pay for Electrify America charging directly through its vehicle apps.
  • The integration provides access to more than 5,000 fast chargers, including 350-kW Hyper-Fast stations.
  • The move supports the automaker’s broader effort to simplify EV ownership and expand public charging access across North America.

General Motors has integrated Electrify America’s fast-charging network directly into its mobile vehicle apps, giving Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac EV drivers simplified access to public charging across the U.S. and Canada.

The update allows GM EV owners to locate, navigate to, activate and pay for charging sessions at more than 5,000 Electrify America fast-charging stations using the myChevrolet, myGMC and myCadillac apps. The network includes Hyper-Fast chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kilowatts.

The integration is designed to remove friction from public charging by eliminating the need for multiple apps or payment methods. Drivers can view real-time charger availability, plan routes with charging stops, monitor session progress and pay directly within their vehicle brand app.

The automaker said the move supports its broader strategy to connect customers to an expanding public charging ecosystem. Including Electrify America, GM drivers now have access to more than 250,000 public charging stations across North America.

Electrify America’s network has become a key component of GM’s charging strategy as EV adoption continues to grow and long-distance travel becomes more common for electric vehicles. The companies said the collaboration focuses on improving reliability, speed and ease of use for drivers on the road.

The integrated experience is accessible through the Public Charging section of each myBrand app, where drivers can filter supported networks and initiate charging sessions without additional accounts or physical payment cards.

The charging update comes as GM continues to expand its EV lineup and strengthen its position in the U.S. electric vehicle market. Outside of Tesla, the automaker sold more EVs domestically than any other automaker, driven by strong demand for the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Cadillac’s expanding electric SUV portfolio.

The company is also preparing to bring the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV to dealers, which the company has positioned as an affordable, long-range option aimed at broader EV adoption.

As EV travel increases, the company said improving access to fast, convenient public charging remains a central priority for customer satisfaction and long-term growth.
