Geely launches E2 electric hatchback in South Africa

Geely Auto has launched the E2 compact electric hatchback in South Africa, offering two specification grades priced from R339,900 (US$20,800) for the Aspire and R389,900 (US$23,900) for the range-topping Apex. The five-door model produces 85kW and 150Nm from a rear-wheel-drive electric motor, with a 39.4kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivering up to 325km of WLTP range.

DC fast charging at up to 70kW covers 30–80% in approximately 25 minutes, while AC charging from 10–100% takes around 6.5 hours. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability is standard across the range. The E2 is built on a dedicated EV platform with a 2,650mm wheelbase, offering 375 litres of boot space expanding to 1,320 litres, plus a 70-litre front trunk.

The Apex grade adds 16-inch alloy wheels, vegan leather upholstery, a 360-degree panoramic camera with transparent chassis view, wireless charging and a full advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning. Both grades feature a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. All E2 models are covered by an eight-year, 200,000km battery warranty. Geely currently operates 32 dealerships in South Africa, with expansion to 40 planned by end of 2026.
