Farley’s public position on China is betrayed by a series of reports indicating Ford’s efforts to bring them into the US market. By Stewart Burnett
Ford Chief Executive Jim Farley has warned on Fox News that Chinese automakers “should not” be allowed to enter the US market, calling the potential impact “devastating to our country” in terms of manufacturing, and warning of the cybersecurity risks associated with data collection and connected vehicles using Chinese software. Farley, who has a history of effusive commentary about Chinese automakers—and who has been centred in multiple reports describing Ford’s efforts to bring them into the US market—now remarks that “there’s no way this is a fair fight”.
