EVgo will expand NACS charging to more than 25 US states by the end of 2026 to meet growing demand from Tesla and other NACS-equipped vehicles
EVgo plans to install more than 500 NACS connectors by the end of 2026, expanding availability to more than 25 US states following a pilot that saw nearly 100 connectors deployed across 22 metropolitan areas. The charging network operator said the rollout is designed to serve Tesla drivers and the growing number of new vehicle models equipped with the North American Charging Standard inlet.

EVgo said more than 80% of new EVs sold in North America are expected to be NACS compatible by 2030, with more than 35 NACS models expected on US roads by the end of this year. Key markets for 2026 deployment include Austin, Houston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit and San Francisco. Most sites will feature two to four NACS connectors with flexibility to expand as demand grows.
Drivers of eligible NACS vehicles can enrol in Autocharge+ through the EVgo app to automatically start charging sessions without an adapter.
In a statement, Badar Khan, Chief Executive Officer of EVgo, said: “Increasing the share of NACS connectors on EVgo’s high-power network means more EV drivers will have access to public fast charging near their everyday amenities like grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. We are already seeing an increase in NACS throughput on our network, and with more than 35 NACS models expected on American roads by the end of the year, we expect that to grow as we add more connectors throughout the country.”
