Daimler Truck has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz NextGenH2 Truck, with 100 units set for customer deployment from late 2026

Daimler Truck has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz NextGenH2 Truck, a hydrogen fuel cell semi-trailer tractor that will enter small-series production at the Wörth plant in Germany, with 100 units set to be deployed with customers from the end of 2026. The truck uses liquid hydrogen to achieve ranges exceeding 1,000 km on a single fill, with two tanks capable of storing up to 85 kg of hydrogen and refuelling possible in 10–15 minutes using the sLH2 standard developed by Daimler Truck and Linde.

The NextGenH2 Truck is powered by the cellcentric BZA150 fuel cell, a twin system with a total output of 300 kW developed through a joint venture between Daimler Truck and Volvo Group. The truck incorporates series components from the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, including the integrated e-axle, ProCabin, and latest safety systems.

In a statement, Achim Puchert, Chief Executive of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said: “In addition to battery-electric solutions, hydrogen-based drives are crucial for the sustainable transformation of our industry. With the NextGenH2 Truck, we are taking the next technological step in fuel cell trucks.”
