Daimler Truck expands own retail network in Germany

Daimler Truck plans to acquire a commercial vehicle site in Passau, Germany, as part of its European retail network expansion

Daimler Truck plans to acquire the Passau Sperrwies site of Josef Paul GmbH & Co. KG in April 2026, subject to antitrust approval, as part of a broader expansion that will see the company’s European own retail network grow by more than 60% by 2030 from its current base of 36 sites. Around 150 employees at the Passau location will transfer to Daimler Truck under a company transfer arrangement.

The site will offer sales and service for Mercedes-Benz and Fuso trucks, along with service for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses, Mercedes-Benz vans, passenger cars and camper vans. Josef Paul GmbH & Co. KG will retain sales responsibility for passenger cars and vans at the location.

In a statement, Stina Fagerman, Head of Marketing, Sales and Services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said: “The truck business is characterised by high complexity, intensive consulting requirements, and strong customer relationships. Through our company-owned dealerships and sites, we maintain close dialogue with our customers and continuously develop products and services.”

Volker Hüntrup, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Own Retail for Europe, added that the company has opened eight commercial vehicle centres in Europe over the past two years, including three in Germany, with new-build projects planned for Koblenz and Nuremberg.
