Compal Electronics has registered SYLUX in the US to strengthen support for automotive OEMs with infrared sensing and low-light safety systems
Compal Electronics has registered SYLUX as a United States company, establishing a dedicated organisation for its automotive infrared sensing and low-light safety solutions business. The move is intended to strengthen Compal’s engagement with North American automotive customers and accelerate the integration of infrared perception systems into vehicle programmes.
SYLUX focuses on infrared camera systems, AI-based perception and classification, and sensor fusion with radar and visible-light cameras. The subsidiary supports functional safety hardware and software to ASIL-B standard, targeting advanced driver assistance and automated driving applications. The US registration adds to existing SYLUX offices in Tokyo, Seoul, Munich, Timisoara, Taipei and two US locations: Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Goleta, California.
Compal said the global-local structure enables faster development cycles and improved responsiveness for both regional and North American vehicle programmes. The company cited tightening safety regulations, including the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 127 pedestrian automatic emergency braking requirement, as a factor driving demand for production-ready nighttime and low-visibility sensing solutions.
In a statement, Richard Seoane, Chief Executive of SYLUX, said: “By establishing a dedicated infrared organization in the United States, we are strengthening our ability to collaborate with customers, accelerate vehicle integration, and deliver advanced sensing technologies that help protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.”
