Chevrolet has unveiled the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, both powered by the next-generation LS6 6.7L V8 producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The naturally aspirated engine, which also replaces the previous unit in the refreshed 2027 Stingray, features a 13.0:1 compression ratio, a 95mm throttle body and a tunnel-ram intake, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The LS6 will be assembled at GM Flint Engine Operations in Michigan, returning V8 production to the city where the first Corvette engines were built in 1955.

The Grand Sport is a rear-wheel-drive variant offered with three chassis configurations: a standard touring setup on Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tyres, the Z52 Sport Performance Package with stiffer suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, and the Z52 Track Performance Package with carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres. An available quad centre-exit exhaust marks the first centre-exit option on a pushrod V8 in the eighth-generation Corvette.

The Grand Sport X adds an electric front axle using a 186hp permanent magnetic motor and a 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery drawn from the Corvette ZR1X, for a combined output of 721hp and all-wheel drive. The system offers three power strategies for track use: Endurance, Qualifying and Push-to-Pass. Electric-only Stealth mode operates up to 50mph, while Shuttle mode allows low-speed movement up to 23mph without engaging the V8.

Heritage design details include the revival of Admiral Blue Metallic from the C4 era and the repositioning of Grand Sport’s signature hash marks to the rear fenders, reflecting the mid-engine V8’s position behind the cockpit. A Launch Edition interior finished in Santorini Blue with red stitching will be available across multiple exterior colours. Both models will be assembled at GM’s Bowling Green facility.
