Acura brings Integra Type S to Japan for first time

Acura will export the US-built Integra Type S to Japan, marking the brand’s first vehicle sale in the market

Acura will begin exporting the US-built Integra Type S to Japan in the second half of 2026, marking the first time an Acura-branded vehicle will be sold in the Japanese market. The high-performance model will be offered with left-hand drive, matching US specifications, as Acura celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The Integra Type S is built at Honda’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, with the 320hp turbocharged 2.0-litre K20C engine produced at the Anna Engine Plant, which also supplies engines for the Civic Type R exported to Japan.

“Building Acura models in America for the past thirty years has been a source of immense pride, and now exporting the American-built Integra Type S to Japan takes that pride to a new level,” Jun Jayaraman, Senior Vice President of the Manufacturing Management Centre at Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, said.

The Integra Type S features a six-speed manual transmission with automatic rev-matching, a limited-slip differential, Brembo front brakes, and 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Honda exhibited the model at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 and Osaka Auto Messe 2026, where visitors expressed interest in its availability for Japan.

Since beginning overseas exports of US-made vehicles in 1987, Honda has shipped more than 1.75 million Honda and Acura vehicles to global markets, including nearly 300,000 to Japan.
