At 13 times the compensation of his Detroit Three counterparts, RJ Scaringe is drawing comparisons between himself and Elon Musk. By Stewart Burnett
US electric vehicle (EV) maker Rivian has awarded its Founder and Chief Executive, RJ Scaringe, a total compensation package of US$403m for 2025, according to a proxy filing published on 28 April. The figure, which is roughly 13 times higher than any Detroit Three executive, comes in spite of a US$3.6bn net loss the same year, an 86% share place decline since the automaker’s 2021 IPO, and vehicle deliveries that fell short of target.
