Nissan has shown an Urban SUV PHEV Concept and a revived Terrano PHEV Concept, with production versions due within one year
Nissan has unveiled two plug-in hybrid electric SUV concepts at Auto China 2026 in Beijing as the automaker accelerates its new-energy vehicle (NEV) push in China. Production versions of both concepts are scheduled to debut within one year, with three further NEV models planned for China launch in the same period.

The Urban SUV PHEV Concept is designed for young Chinese buyers and draws on design philosophies from the NX8 and Nissan’s future SUV lineup. The Terrano PHEV Concept revives an established Nissan nameplate, combining the brand’s off-road heritage with plug-in hybrid technology suited to both outdoor and urban use.
Nissan is targeting one million units in annual China sales by fiscal year 2030, with exports identified as a key element of that goal. The N7 will be sold in Latin America and ASEAN, while the Frontier Pro is planned for Latin America, ASEAN and the Middle East. The NX8 and the production Terrano PHEV are also earmarked for selected global markets.

China has been designated one of three lead markets alongside Japan and the US under Nissan’s ‘Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life’ vision. In a statement, Ivan Espinosa, President and Chief Executive of Nissan Motor, said China functions as both a competitive domestic market and a source of new technologies and products for global markets.
