JSW Motors and Tata Elxsi form SDV partnership in Pune

JSW Motors and Tata Elxsi have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the JNEXT – JSW NextGen Technology Center in Pune, creating a joint engineering hub for software-defined vehicle (SDV) and connected platform development. The centre will support JSW Motors’ upcoming new-energy vehicle (NEV) programmes, spanning electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

Tata Elxsi will lead the connected vehicle platform and unified customer experience application for JSW Motors, taking responsibility from concept through to production and aftersales. The scope covers over-the-air (OTA) frameworks, digital twins, cybersecurity, AI analytics, 5G-enabled systems and SDV architectures for diagnostics, predictive maintenance and functional safety.

Tata Elxsi will draw on its proprietary TETHER Auto platform to deliver cloud-native vehicle software. The collaboration supports JSW Motors’ strategy to build a technology-led NEV ecosystem in India, with an emphasis on local sourcing and development across the vehicle value chain.

In a statement, Ranjan Nayak, Chief Executive of JSW Motors, said Tata Elxsi’s expertise in SDV, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and digital engineering will help accelerate development timelines. Manoj Raghavan, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Tata Elxsi, said the collaboration will enable scalable, adaptable vehicle platforms.
