Tesla Robotaxi prices in San Francisco have risen 41% since launch, the largest jump among rideshare providers, Obi research shows
Tesla Robotaxi prices in San Francisco have risen 41% since launch, the largest increase among rideshare providers in the city, according to a new analysis from rideshare app Obi. Average Tesla prices ranged from US$8.31 to US$14.59 per ride between 1 March and 14 April 2026, against a launch-period figure of around US$8.
The 41% jump for Tesla compares with 18% for Waymo, 12% for Lyft and 5% for Uber Standard, Obi said. On a per-mile basis, Tesla rose 34% and Waymo 4%, while Uber and Lyft per-mile prices fell slightly, which Obi attributed to those two services’ share of longer airport runs.
Despite the rise, Tesla remains the cheapest option in San Francisco by a wide margin, and is still around half the price of a Waymo ride. Obi said Tesla maintains a double-digit cost advantage over its nearest competitor in daily comparisons.

Tesla Robotaxi cannot currently take passengers to Bay Area airports. Waymo can drop off at San Francisco International Airport but cannot collect or set down at terminal kerbsides, leaving Uber and Lyft with a large share of airport trips.

Obi said Tesla’s previously flat pricing has also become more variable, with day-to-day averages now showing the spread typical of dynamic pricing systems. The launch period had shown little evidence of surge pricing.
The analysis covered offers between 500 m and 50 km drawn from organic searches in the Obi app, with the launch comparison taken from its January 2026 report.
