Audi and SAIC will open a dedicated AUDI Innovation & Technology Center in Shanghai, led by AUDI AG, under a new agreement
Audi and SAIC Motor have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen their China partnership, centred on a dedicated AUDI Innovation & Technology Center in Shanghai and four new models built on the next generation of the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP). The agreement covers R&D and the full value chain for the AUDI-brand portfolio developed under the German automaker’s China joint venture.
The new Shanghai facility will be led by AUDI AG and focus on China-specific intelligent electrification technology and whole-vehicle development for intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). Priority areas include AI-driven smart cabins and advanced driver assistance systems tailored to Chinese premium customers.

The four planned ADP-based models will extend the AUDI portfolio beyond the AUDI E5 Sportback, launched in 2025, and the AUDI E7X SUV, which debuts at Beijing Auto China 2026. A third model is scheduled for 2027. AUDI is the China-exclusive brand developed with SAIC since 2024.
Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management, AUDI AG, said: “Audi’s ambition is to remain a strong player in China through the ICV era. Our partnership with SAIC and our NEV brand AUDI has been instrumental, allowing us to connect with new customer groups and expand our product offerings to meet their evolving needs.”
Jia Jianxu, President of SAIC Motor, added: “Now, we are excited to move forward together, building on this foundation to jointly pursue innovation and leadership in the premium electric vehicle market.”
