Mercedes-Benz has updated the EQS with 800-volt architecture, a 926km WLTP range and steer-by-wire technology new to German series-production cars
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the updated EQS electric saloon, with the EQS 450+ achieving a WLTP range of 926km, a 13% improvement over its predecessor, supported by 800-volt architecture enabling 350kW DC charging that adds 320km of range in 10 minutes. The model also introduces steer-by-wire to a series-production car for the first time among German automakers.

The updated EQS uses new in-house electric drive units, a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle and a 122kWh battery with silicon oxide-graphite blend anodes, offering around 3% more energy content within the same installation space. Recuperation power reaches 385kW, a third higher than the outgoing model. Bidirectional charging enabling vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) capability will be added via an over-the-air update after market launch.
The Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) integrates all vehicle functions and supports continuous over-the-air updates. The MBUX Virtual Assistant incorporates AI from Microsoft and can conduct multi-part dialogues via an animated avatar on the central display. MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST gains diagonal parking capability and operates at up to 5km/h, approximately 60% faster than the previous system.

A new entry variant, the EQS 400, joins the range with 270kW output and a 112kWh battery. German pricing starts at €94,403 (US$108,500) including VAT for the EQS 400, or €79,330 excluding VAT for business customers.
