Infineon Technologies has retained its position as the world’s leading automotive semiconductor supplier for the sixth consecutive year, according to market data published by TechInsights for 2025. The Munich-based firm increased its lead over the second-placed competitor, recording a market share of 12.8% in a global automotive semiconductor market valued at US$74.4bn.
Infineon holds the number one regional position in Europe, China and South Korea, and ranks second in North America and Japan, where it narrowed the gap to the respective market leaders. The firm first claimed the global top spot in 2020.
In automotive microcontrollers, Infineon extended its lead significantly, with market share rising 3.9 percentage points year-on-year to 36.0%. The company positions microcontrollers as central to electric drivetrains, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and the software-defined vehicle architectures enabling over-the-air feature updates.
Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive at Infineon, said: “Our persistent number one position in the automotive semiconductor market demonstrates our strong customer commitment and ability to address the key trends toward software-defined vehicles and drivetrain electrification. The extension of our leadership in strategic domains such as microcontrollers underlines our innovative strength. Confirming our top one and two positions across all key regions clearly shows the trust placed in us by our partners globally.”
