Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé completes Swedish winter tests

Mercedes-AMG has completed final winter testing of the near-production Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé at its test centre in Arjeplog, Sweden, ahead of the model’s world premiere in the coming weeks. The fully electric sports car features a new driving dynamics control system called AMG Race Engineer, alongside a three-motor all-wheel drive system making its debut in a fully electric sports car.

The AMG Race Engineer comprises three rotary controls governing response, cornering and traction slip behaviour individually. The system allows drivers to adjust electric motor response to accelerator inputs, vary cornering behaviour from understeer to controlled oversteer, and set traction control intervention across nine stages. Full functionality is available with the electronic stability programme switched off.

Power is delivered via AMG Performance 4MATIC+, which uses three axial flux motors for the first time in a fully electric sports car. The system distributes torque continuously between the front and rear axles and between the two rear wheels independently. Braking is handled by a composite system combining a carbon-ceramic front axle brake with a steel rear axle unit.

The suspension is the AMG Active Ride Control air system, featuring triple-switchable air springs, semi-active roll stabilisation and an 8.2-litre pressure accumulator for speed-dependent ride height adjustment. Battery cells are directly cooled using an electrically non-conductive oil coolant to maintain optimal temperature across varying conditions.
