Stellantis is using autonomous robots from Dexory to track parts inventory in real time at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan
Stellantis has deployed autonomous robots from Dexory at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan to track parts inventory in real time, with plans to expand the system to three additional US facilities. The robots scan more than 36,000 square feet of warehouse space in under an hour, making multiple passes daily to update material inventory and flag items requiring attention.
The Dexory system uses AI-driven software to create a live digital map of parts locations and availability, supporting faster decision-making on the factory floor. The technology was introduced at Stellantis’s 2024 Factory Booster Day, where suppliers pitch solutions to address plant-level needs.
Following early results at Sterling Heights, which assembles the Ram 1500, Stellantis is expanding the system to Detroit Assembly Complex–Jefferson, Toledo Assembly Complex, and Warren Truck Assembly Plant.
Chuck Padden, Vice President and Sterling Heights Plant Manager, said: “This technology makes material handling more predictable. By catching and addressing part needs before they reach the line, our workforce has accurate, up-to-the-minute visibility so they can focus on vehicle assembly.”
Todd Boone, Vice President of North America at Dexory, added: “This is the future of manufacturing—people and technology working side by side. By combining our robots and AI-powered solutions with Stellantis’ expertise, we enable manufacturing with greater precision and efficiency.”
The collaboration received recognition at the 2025 Stellantis Venture Awards.
