Scania’s L-series cab has achieved a five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s Safer Trucks programme, the highest score available
Scania’s L-series cab has achieved a five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s Safer Trucks programme, the highest score available in the European consumer testing organisation’s assessment of commercial vehicle safety. The tested vehicle was an electric version of the L-cab, which sits within the utility segment covering vehicles such as refuse collectors and other service trucks.
The L-cab is a low-entry design intended for urban and vocational operations. It features active safety systems including advanced emergency braking, lane departure warning with active steering, and a side-turn emergency brake that detects cyclists turning across the vehicle’s path.
Passive safety features include driver and side curtain airbags, while the cab can be equipped with Scania’s City Door option, which opens within minimal space to reduce the risk of dooring incidents. The L-cab is integrated within Scania’s modular system, meaning drivers encounter a familiar layout and controls.
In a statement, Lars Gustafsson, Head of Trucks at Scania, said: “At Scania, we put safety and our customers first, and that our L-cab has been awarded five stars by Euro NCAP is proof that we turn our commitment into actions. This recognition is a milestone in Scania’s long-term ambition to drive the shift towards a safe road without accidents.”
