BorgWarner has secured three electric motor business awards from Asian OEMs covering hybrid and battery electric vehicle programmes
BorgWarner has secured three electric motor (eMotor) business awards from Asian OEMs, with one programme in South Korea and two in China. The supplier says the awards span both battery electric and hybrid vehicle applications, with production phasing in from June 2026 through September 2027.
In South Korea, BorgWarner will supply a stator assembly for a new B-segment electric SUV programme, with production expected from September 2027. The award builds on earlier work supplying hairpin eMotor technology to the same customer for a multi-purpose vehicle platform.
In China, BorgWarner has secured a P2 eMotor programme using its patented S-winding technology, designed for global plug-in hybrid platforms paired with 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged engines, with production expected from February 2027. A second Chinese award covers a generator motor for a three-speed hybrid transmission using BorgWarner’s ultra-short hairpin winding technology, due to launch in June 2026.
In a statement, Dr Stefan Demmerle, Vice President at BorgWarner and President and General Manager of PowerDrive Systems, said: “These awards reflect the confidence our customers have in BorgWarner’s quality, localized manufacturing footprint, and engineering capabilities to deliver efficient, scalable motor technologies.” BorgWarner says the second Chinese programme will support both domestic Chinese applications and hybrid export programmes.
