Solaris Bus & Coach has won a tender to supply 19 hydrogen-powered buses to SWK Mobil Krefeld in western Germany
Solaris Bus & Coach has won a tender to supply 19 hydrogen-powered buses to German operator SWK Mobil Krefeld, with delivery scheduled for 2027. The order covers nine Urbino 12 hydrogen buses and 10 articulated Urbino 18 hydrogen buses for service in the western German city of Krefeld.
The 12-metre Urbino 12 e-buses will use a 160 kW central motor, while the articulated Urbino 18 vehicles will feature a 240 kW motor, with the electric drivetrain powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Equipment includes camera-based mirror replacement systems, driver-assistance features and accessibility provision such as ramps and dedicated wheelchair spaces.

SWK Mobil Krefeld has cooperated with Solaris since 2011 and ordered 10 Urbino 12 hydrogen e-buses in 2023, which entered service in 2025. As with that earlier hydrogen order, the Krefeld operator will use Solaris’s proprietary eSConnect fleet management tool to monitor vehicle performance and plan operations.
Solaris says it has now delivered more than 800 hydrogen buses across Europe, with around half of its Urbino hydrogen deliveries going to the German market. The manufacturer adds that its hydrogen e-buses are now in passenger service in 18 German cities, with further deliveries already underway across the country.
