Verra Mobility has launched a digital tool that lets rental car customers select add-on services through the vehicle’s infotainment system
Verra Mobility has launched AutoKinex Virtual Agent, a digital tool that allows rental car customers to complete checkout and select add-on services such as tolling, prepaid fuel and insurance directly through the vehicle’s infotainment system. The company said the solution enables renters to bypass the counter entirely, reducing wait times and lowering operational costs for rental providers.
The system is powered by Verra Mobility’s AutoKinex connected vehicle payments platform and integrates with existing rental company systems. It guides customers step by step through the rental process from inside the vehicle and can also deliver contextual notifications during the journey, such as refuelling reminders or fuel programme prompts.

Stacey Mosser, Executive Vice President at Verra Mobility, said: “AutoKinex Virtual Agent enables true counter-bypass by allowing renters to confirm details and opt into services directly from the vehicle’s infotainment system, while giving rental companies direct communication with drivers along with the automation, consistency and compliance they need.”
Verra Mobility cited a 2025 J.D. Power study finding that overall satisfaction was notably higher among rental car customers who skipped the counter than among those who stopped at it. The AutoKinex Virtual Agent is available now.
