Honda’s Fastport eQuad launches with Bird and Spin

Honda’s Fastport venture has begun commercial sales of its eQuad micromobility vehicle and fleet-as-a-service platform in the US

Fastport, a micromobility venture from Honda, has begun commercial sales of its eQuad vehicle and fleet-as-a-service (FaaS) platform in the US and signed a partnership with Third Lane Mobility, parent company of shared micromobility operators Bird and Spin. The electric eQuad is a single-rider vehicle designed as a zero-emission alternative to traditional delivery vans in dense urban environments.

Bird and Spin will deploy the eQuad in select university campus markets and major metropolitan areas for battery swapping, vehicle rebalancing and maintenance of their shared e-scooter and e-bike fleets. Stewart Lyons, Chief Executive of Third Lane Mobility, said: “The partnership between Bird and Fastport is really about bringing a zero-emissions fleet to support vision zero goals in a way that’s more economical for our business.”

The eQuad features a pedal-by-wire assist powertrain, swappable Honda Mobile Power Pack batteries and regenerative braking. Fastport said its compact four-wheel design allows operators to use bike lanes and navigate tight corridors more efficiently than conventional commercial vehicles. The FaaS platform supports over-the-air updates, fleet diagnostics and API integration.

Jose Wyszogrod, General Manager of Fastport, said the venture was created to address rising urban congestion, emissions and operating costs where full-size commercial vehicles are less practical.
