Hyundai, Kia expand NVIDIA partnership to accelerate autonomous driving development.

Hyundai and Kia announced an expanded strategic partnership with NVIDIA to advance autonomous driving technology and support the development of a global software-defined vehicle ecosystem.

Under the agreement, Hyundai  will combine its software-defined vehicle capabilities with NVIDIA’s autonomous driving technology to develop next-generation solutions. The company said it plans to integrate NVIDIA’s Level 2 and above technology into select vehicle models to enhance safety and convenience.

The collaboration also extends to Hyundai’s autonomous vehicle joint venture, Motional, which will work with NVIDIA to further develop Level 4 robotaxi capabilities. The companies said the effort will support continued advancements in both technology and service capabilities.

Hyundai said the partnership is part of its broader strategy to internalize proprietary driving artificial intelligence, using real-world driving data as a core component. The company emphasized that continuous data collection and model training are critical to strengthening autonomous driving performance.

As part of the agreement, Hyundai will use NVIDIA’s data platforms and AI technologies to create a unified learning pipeline that integrates data collected across its vehicle fleet to support ongoing development.

The companies will build on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform to establish an autonomous-driving architecture that scales from Level 2 to Level 4. The development framework includes real-world data collection, AI model training and continuous improvement, and deployment and validation in production vehicles.

Hyundai said it aims to fully internalize advanced autonomous driving capabilities while continuing parallel development efforts to strengthen flexibility and global responsiveness.

The companies noted that specific details of the partnership, including structure and timeline, remain subject to ongoing discussions and will be finalized in a separate agreement.
