Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion will underpin a unified AV architecture across Hyundai Motor Group’s vehicle fleet and Motional operations
Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Corporation and Nvidia have announced an expanded strategic partnership to develop autonomous driving technology spanning Level 2 driver assistance through to Level 4 robotaxi services. The collaboration will integrate Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion as the foundation for a unified autonomous driving architecture across Hyundai Motor Group’s vehicle fleet, with Motional, the group’s autonomous vehicle joint venture, set to advance Level 4 capabilities under the same framework.
The partnership centres on building a continuous data cycle in which real-world driving data collected across Hyundai Motor Group’s production vehicles feeds AI model training, with updated models then deployed and validated in vehicles. The group aims to internalise proprietary autonomous driving AI through this pipeline, using Nvidia’s data platforms and AI technologies as the underlying infrastructure.

For production vehicles, Hyundai Motor and Kia will integrate Nvidia’s autonomous driving technology at Level 2 and above in select models. Through Motional, the group will leverage Nvidia technologies to advance Level 4 robotaxi capabilities in parallel.
In a statement, Heung-Soo Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Global Strategy Office at Hyundai Motor Group, said: “Based on a unified, group-wide collaborative framework, we will strengthen our differentiated technological competitiveness — from Level 2 and above autonomous driving technology to Level 4 robotaxi services.”
Rishi Dhall, Vice President of Automotive at Nvidia, added: “We’re combining Hyundai Motor Group’s leadership in vehicle engineering with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI to build safe, intelligent, NVIDIA DRIVE-based autonomous driving systems — from advanced driver assistance in select production vehicles to scalable robotaxi services with Motional.”
