Nissan will bring its US-built Murano to Japan from early 2027, using a new government certification framework for imported US vehicles
Nissan has announced plans to introduce the US-built Murano to the Japanese market, with sales scheduled to begin in early 2027. The automaker will use a new certification framework for US-made passenger vehicles established by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in February 2026 to facilitate the import.

The Murano is manufactured at Nissan North America’s Smyrna plant in Tennessee. The model has received the JD Power Most Dependable Midsize SUV award in the US Vehicle Dependability Study for two consecutive years, including 2026.
In a statement, Ivan Espinosa, President and Chief Executive of Nissan, said: “The Murano has earned high praise from customers in the U.S. market for its elegant design and exceptional comfort. With the introduction of this model, Nissan aims to further strengthen its product lineup in Japan and meet the diverse needs of Japanese customers.”
