Denza, the premium electric vehicle brand of BYD Group, will launch the Z9GT shooting brake grand tourer in Europe on 8 April at an event in Paris, introducing the company’s Flash Charging technology to the region. Flash Charging supports up to 1,500kW through a single cable and delivers a 10% to 70% charge in five minutes and a 10% to 97% charge in nine minutes, with a 20% to 97% charge achievable in 12 minutes at temperatures as low as -30°C.

The system relies on BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry with improved ion transport to increase energy density and charging speed across a wider temperature range. The Z9GT’s 122kW/h battery supports a range of up to 800km in the rear-wheel drive variant, while the triple-motor configuration produces over 960PS and reaches 100km/h in under three seconds.

The Z9GT will be the first European vehicle to feature audio technology from French specialist Devialet, using a bespoke speaker configuration and Dolby Atmos to deliver immersive in-cabin sound. BYD has committed to an initial wave of Flash Charging stations in Europe to support the model’s arrival, with further infrastructure details to follow.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, said: “The ability to add hundreds of kilometres of range in just minutes, even in extremely low temperatures, means the Z9GT perfectly reflects our vision for DENZA: technology that inspires, performance that excites and elegance that defines the future of premium mobility.”
