Nissan Thailand MOU targets electrification skills development

Nissan Thailand and MHESI will jointly build electrified powertrain training modules, with e-POWER technology as the central teaching platform.

Nissan Thailand has signed an MOU with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to develop hands-on training programmes centred on its e-POWER electrified powertrain technology. The two-year collaboration will involve university-level institutions with existing automotive and engineering programmes.

e-POWER is an electric-drive system in which the wheels are powered solely by an electric motor, with a petrol engine acting as a generator. The platform will be used to teach core components including the electric motor, inverter, battery system, and energy-management controls through workshops, technical demonstrations, and structured training modules.

Nissan engineers and technical specialists will conduct training sessions, on-site demonstrations, and facility visits. The programme is designed to supplement rather than replace existing curricula.

“This collaboration allows us to share our technical expertise with Thailand’s education sector in a practical and meaningful way,” said Takaaki Yanagi, senior vice president of Nissan Thailand. “We aim to contribute to building a stronger understanding of electrified powertrains among students and educators.”
