Mahindra & Mahindra is investing approximately INR1.96bn to expand its Advanced Research and Development Centre and testing facilities at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. The expansion is expected to create around 2,000 additional jobs spanning engineering, research, and technical roles once fully operational.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Minister for Industries T. R. B. Rajaa in attendance. The facility is scheduled to be operational within 2026.
The expanded infrastructure will support advanced vehicle design, product engineering, and future technology development across multiple vehicle segments. Mahindra Research Valley currently employs 5,000 professionals at its 125-acre campus.
In a statement, R Velusamy, President of Automotive Business, said: “This expansion underscores our long-term commitment to advancing product engineering capabilities in India, enhancing global competitiveness, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver superior products to customers worldwide.”
